HP LaserJet 400 M401dn can i configure which port it prints from

hi,

I have a HP LaserJet 400 M401dn  I need to configure it to print from commands from 9101  rather then the default 9100.  I can not find a place to alter the configuration .
does anyone know if this is available...?


any help appreciated.

Oops!  Re-reading this - do you want to configure the printer to accept incoming RAW PCL data on 9101?  

If so you may be able to do this with a multi-port JetDirect box - this allows 9100, 9101 and 9102 to be used to driect print jobs to three separate connected printers.

The difficulty is that the JetDirect card will interpret the packets as going to separate LPT ports (1 though 3 respectively) and that in turn relies on the printer recognising that it's "attached" to LPT2.

A little more from HP on the subject here (using an external multi-port server and XP)

Certainly not as simple as changing the Port number in Windows!

I ordered the Jet direct card from Ebay....
