I have a libreoffice table of books and I can't get it to sort.

I want to sort by:
1. date (YYYY-MM-DD)
2. author
3. title

How do I sort this?   I thought it was easy but it doesn't work.

It is easy... but you had put single quotes at the beginning of some of the Date fields.  While that will cause the cell to be formatted as 'text', that overrides the DATE formatting and changes the sorting.  Try this version.

Dave Baldwin: Please tell me which date has the single quote.  I don't see it.

I removed them from the version I uploaded.  The only way to see the single quotes is in the edit bar because they don't display in the cells (which is normal behavior).  If you do a sort on column C on your original file, the ones that are out of sequence at the top of the column are the ones with the single quote.

Why did you only give me a 'C' grade for finding your problem?

Please tell whomever handles you grades that I've done it for the third time.  I don't use a regular mouse, I use the sensor pad on my laptop.  I was moving the mouse arrow toward the "A" and my cursor movement was AGAIN mistaken for a mouse click.  Please show this  email to whoever can change you grade.  You guys always give good answers and if you didn't, I would wait until one of you does so I wouldn't give a bad grade.  More than oneof you are always able to answer my questions.

If they send me an email, like they've done before, I'll tell them to change your grade. I apologize for the error.  Like I said, a "C" is my error.
