Unable to connect to new 2010 Exchange Server

Hi,
I've an installation of Exchange 2010 which was installed some time ago but I'm only now getting around to completing it - all appears to be ok but the best practise checklist reports one problem 'Mailbox Role Partially Configured'.

There's a Exchange 2003 Server already running in the environment which is due to be retired once the 2010 server is running.

When I try to connect an Outlook client by entering the new server name i.e. newmailserver.domainname.ie or the IP address of the new 2010 server - in Server Settings - it resolves to the existing 2003 Exchange server.

Any idea why that might be?  Thanks in advance.

outlook will search for the server the mailbox resides on
doesn't matter what exchange server you put in, if it find the mailbox on a different server, it will change to using that one

you need to move the mailbox manually to the 2010 server first before using
thought it appears you have issues with your 2010 installation you need to resolve first
