Try to turn cache mode off and on again (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/turn-on-or-off-cached-exchange-mode-HP010355560.aspx),
if that doesn't work try to remove/rename the OST file and let Outlook sync again.

We were not able to change the cache mode but we were able to delete the ost file and have it recreated.  This worked fine.
