Quark 7 install problem

Help please!  My old Quark 7 corrupted.  Had lost old Quark 7 validation code so couldn't do a re-install.  Have un-installed old Quark 7 by moving to trash and emptying:
Mac HDD >> Applications >> QuarkXPress 7.x
Mac HDD >> Library >> Preferences >> Quark
Mac HDD >> Users >> Home User >> Library >> Preferences >> QuarkXPress 7.x
    Just purchased a complete slightly used Quark 7 to install on my Mac OX S 10.4.11 to replace old Quark 7 that corrupted.  This new Quark 7 on install will not accept as valid the validation code that came with the program.  
    Are there still segments of the old Quark 7 not purged from the OX S that are preventing the install from happening?  If not, any suggestions as to how I can install Quark 7 with provided code?

why have you listed this under Win XP, if its a Mac based app??

in either case you should use the proper method for your OS to remove the application, restart and then re-install.  If the code you have does not work, then you need to contact your local Quark software agent and get them to check it for you to make sure its a genuine code.

also be aware that the older versions are no longer supported, v10.0 is the current version.

Thanks for your response.  My mistake that I listed this under Win XP; sorry about that.

Your response doesn't answer my question.  I listed the process I employed (see inital quiry) to remove the old corrupted QuarkXPress 7 files but still could not do an install with new Q 7 because of a rejected validation code.  Is this not the proper method?  My original question: Are there still other segments of the old Quark 7 not purged from the OX S that are preventing the install from happening?

Am aware that v10.0 is the current version. Trying to install Q 7 so I can utilize Quark's free 7.5 upgrade and then move on from there.

sorry for not getting it quite right, i AM familiar with the app, but I'm NOT a Mac person.  

I would imagine if you have manually removed part or most of the app, there will be remnants remaining not in the app folder that need to be removed, in Windows these are installed in Common Files or share areas out-with the app folder and usually involves some registry work to clear.

I'm know Mac OS has no registry function, but as this is likely the source of most or part of your re-install issue, you may want to check the Library/Preferences area for any Quark stuff.  You could also use something like AppTrap or CCleaner for Mac to aid in this and it may work for you.

Worst case you may have wipe and rebuild your system to get a clean slate, and assuming your keycode is still valid.
