Hi

I am using Joomla 3.2.1
All is going well.

However I want to change my background colour from the articles from the default white to another colour.

I am aware that this may need to change some coding but how do I achieve this?

Tx

Look at the css corresponding to your template, and test the changes in the "content" area

you need to change the background in the template.

First begin by inspecting the current page (in firefox you can righ click and inspect element)

Then you need to find the background tag in the style CSS file of the template

How much do you know about joomla, CSS and websites in general?

Joomla - fairly good
CSS - not so good
Websites in General - also not so good if you mean css & html codes.

This is the website that I have created ----> (a1telecomms.co.za)
As you can see most of the pages are white on the content area - how can I play around with different colours to see which one can best fit my liking other than white?

One of the best things you could do is to invest in Artisteer (you can try for free) and that lets you create a template for joomla sites.  I know CSS and HTML but sometime use this to make life easier

You have a number of other things that could be improved also with the program

the trial version does not allow you to save the design

You could improve the overall look of the site, give the software a quick try and see what you think, I think the software is a bit expensive to be honest but its worth it

Hmmm... I would first start with a serious cleanup: you have too many css and js files, embeddded js,  you have some (wanted or not?) links to some vietnamese sites, etc.
If your only problem is to change the background from white to another color, you probably don't need Artisteer... but will you stop there?

The background color is presumably hard-coded into some part of your php template(s). search for
body { font-weight: normal; font-family: 'Oxygen', 'Helvetica', arial, serif;}
and change it for something like
body { font-weight: normal; font-family: 'Oxygen', 'Helvetica', arial, serif;
background-color:#BBAA44 }

(of course, put the right color!)

In an article posted below,

Where can I find the code to change background colour??

"<p>A1 Telecoms cc was started in 2008 by Shaun Wingrin, an Electrical Engineer, who noticed that the man-in-the-street often was misinformed and at times, even unfairly disadvantaged, in his dealings with Telecommunications companies, many of whom are enormous, powerful and appear intimidating to the general public. Please realise though, that we are not saying this is always the case. It just happens that you hear the bad news much more often than the good.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Telkom, MTN, Vodacom, 8ta, CellC and more recently, Neotel are names that the public hear and see all the time but many people are reluctant to assert the consumer rights with these conglomerates, for varied reasons, namely:</p>
<p>It takes too long to see the process through</p>
<p>They don’t know whom to speak to and get shunted from pillar to post</p>
<p>They don’t know what to say to express their query clearly</p>
<p>They don’t have time to follow up, even when they have lodged a successful query</p>
<p>Lastly, they think it’s going to cost them more than they will gain.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A1 Telecoms is there to save you money. Our underlying philosophy is that if we don’t save you money, we don’t charge for our services.</p>
<p>We source equipment for clients, prepare DETAILED monthly reports of their telephone use (or abuse by employees), scrutinise their Telkom accounts and set out to recover any monies owed to the client, be it as a result of Credits on their account which they often don’t notice, lack of service due to outages or cable theft or just general overcharging of YOU, the man-in-the-street, intentionally or sometimes even, mistakenly, by the big, powerful giants of the industry.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>We have an enormous database of contacts, back office staff and “the right people to talk to”, when it comes to sorting out issues. Over the years, we have also diversified into IT consulting as it’s so intertwined with the above and the VOIP environment, which is what we focus on heavily too.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>                                                                                                                             <img src="images/images 16.jpg" alt="" /></p>"

There might be several css elements defining the background of your texts.
Before you start investigating if this in <p> css description or other, please try first the changes I suggested for the general background.

B-) Glad I could help. Thx for the grade and points.
Remember doing as much cleanup as possible, having pages with slow loading time because of too many files is really painful!
