Hyper-V Virtual NICS

Why Hyper-V hosted virtual machine looses network connectivity quite often? The host servers  runs on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. The only way to restore service of the virtual machine is rebooting the OS.

There have been known issues with a feature called VMQ that causes random lost network connectivity that was an issue on Server 2008 R2, and is also an issue with current versions of Windows Server as well.  The quick fix has always been to disable the Virtual Machine Queue feature in the advanced properties of each network adapter on the host machine.  See my blog entry for more details:
