Using Microsoft Online (Office 365) hosted SharePoint 2013

Trying to setup a connection to a SQL database stored on our office network from it. I've setup BCS's "Set Metadata Store Permissions" and stored credentials in Secure Store. Trying to create the new external content type with SPD 2013. On SPD 2013, the New External Content Type button in the ribbon is enabled, but nothing happens when I click on it.

Do I need in import a "model" of the SQL database into BCS before I can create a new External Content Type?  If so, how do I generate one from our SQL server?

This has been open for a while with no responses so I'll try a URL.
Does any of this thread help your scenario?

PS I had to reload the page twice before if showed, seems the area but be undergoing some changes (just in case it doesn't load correctly for you)

Sorry,  there was no response here for a few weeks, so didn't bother keeping it active.

I solved my own problem by uninstalling and then downloading and reinstalling SharePoint Designer 2013.  So the issue was something internal to SPD 2013.
