There are probably many experts that have investigated the best and worst of cloud storage. Can anyone that is very familiar with several organizations and has decided upon one let me know of your choice?  Additionally, can I assume that most or all cloud storage companies have what they perceive as high level security?

You may receive a lot of suggestions about this and that cloud storage provider, but it will all boil down to:

1) What is your ultimate goal?
2) What are your needs?

Goal #1  It would be nice to have the convenience to access any photograph or document from any computer when travelling.

Goal #2  If I had all my main documents in one place it would be easy to access from any computer in this building without dedicating one computer as a server. I have five computers on this Ethernet. I have sharing turned OFF on all of them. I could access any cloud file from any of these computers and grab any document I wish without having all these documents on all computers.

Note: security of a high level is not important to me for this project since nothing I would store on the cloud would be sensitive or confidential in nature.

It just seems like a cool and nifty add-on.

The maximum storage required would be under 50 gigs.

In that case, I would say money is the primary factor.

As far as security is concerned, you said are not uploading sensitive materials so high security features are not important.  You would want to shy away from services like dropbox which fully sync folders to each connected PC, so I would recommend:

Amazon Cloud Drive - 50GB ~$25/year or 5GB Free

Google Drive - 25GB ~$2.50/month or 5GB Free

Microsoft SkyDrive (popular now with Win8 integration) - 50GB ~$25/year, 25GB ~$10/year or 7GB Free

These would be "grab what you want, when you want" services.
