With the inclusion of various add-ons during installation, it seems to me that Comodo is less attractive as a firewall.  Correct?

Yes.... Let's be honest. Its a software firewall with limited capabilities. However, it is free which brings me to my next point. When something is for free it typically falls along the lines  of "You get what you pay for" and in this case you aren't paying anything. So, the feature set within this software is very limited and they offer a more FULL feature set on a different version for that very reason. Attract with the free version only to find out it's not capable of doing what I need....Well, we have the full feature and more over here for x amount of dollars. Kind of like buying a new PC with all this garbage software loaded onto it only to find out that most of that good software is for a 90 trial only and not the full licensed versions. Depending on your needs, some people do not need a rich set of features for home or small business protection but there are some out there that will provide you with some sense of security.  I hope this helps.
