Everyone,

when I run logman.exe query the following output is displayed :

Data Collector Set                      Type                          Status
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DCO1                                    Counter                       Stopped
Server Manager Performance Monitor      Counter                       Stopped

The command completed successfully.

But when I try logman start dc01 I get the following error :

C:\Users\Administrator>logman start dc01

Error:
Data Collector Set was not found.

Can anyone assist please.

To fix the problem, perform the following:

Log on to the server having the error.

Launch Performance Monitor (perfmon.exe) and look under Data Collector Sets - User Defined, and look for Server Manager Performance Monitor. If it's present, right-click it and select Start. Most likely it won't be present, so continue to the next step.

Log on to a server whose performance counters can be monitored.

Open an elevated command prompt where you will export its Server Manager Performance Monitor data collector set by using this command:

logman export -n "Server Manager Performance Monitor" -xml SMPM.xml

Open up the generated XML file and remove the entire section <Security>List of IDs</Security> then save the file.

Open an elevated command prompt where the data collector set is missing and import the XML file:

logman import -n "Server Manager Performance Monitor" -xml SMPM.xml

Start the performance counters:

logman start "Server Manager Performance Monitor"

If you refresh the server in Server Manager, the performance data should now be available.
