vmware - vm

I have two virtual center on my environment. (VC4 and VC5)

I have a VM on VC4 environment and I would like to have the same copy on my VC5 environment. How can I create a copy. Is there any way I can just get the .vmdk file and build it on VC5? Please provide me any suggestions and steps.

You can copy the machine in many ways.

You can export it as OVF from VC4 and import it on VC5.
To export the VM, the VM should be powered off. Also make sure the VM is running Hardware version 7 and above for it to work on VC5
Check this link for the steps
http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-4-esx-vcenter/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.vsphere.vmadmin.doc_41/vc_client_help/importing_and_exporting_virtual_appliances/t_export_a_virtual_machine.html

You can go to datastore and download the VM (All the files) and register it on VC5.

I did OVF export and import. I am getting Failed to deploy OVF package for one of my VM.

OVF package is corrupt, or not compatible.

Try again, or another method.

is OVF method is faster than other methods?

AbhilashBloggerCommented:
It all depends on your data transfer rate.
They all pretty much take the same time as you are downloading the same amount of data if you take a OVF or downloading the files.

The OVF method is not really, fast ALL methods take the same time, to get the data out of VMFS.

I asked the SAN admin to share the LUN to another host and I was able to deploy OVF using the new host and same LUN.

But If i use the another host and this LUN it is not working. Would it be the Host or datastore having issue?

What error did you get when importing?

I found the resolution for this issue. It was a FC cable strength caused this issue.
