Looking for Online Accounting Software Usage Rates

I'm shifting over to online accounting software from QuickBooks installed on my bookkeeper's laptop. (I'm making the shift because I often want to access my books without going through my bookkeeper.) I'm looking for a list of online accounting brands (QuickBooks Online, Wave, FreshBooks with Zen Payroll...) with a count of users utilizing each brand. Why do I care how many users utilize each brand? I care because it's hard to find accountant who will support me if I'm using a brand with which they're not familiar.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

A good accountant should not need your QuickBooks file to do their work. I send my clients information to their various accountants by creating a General Ledger and a Trial Balance and saving these to Excel. I give the accountants the Excel file. This ports directly into their tax accounting software. The only thing to recognize in this is that I do the accounting and I also do the adjusting entries.

So then the only thing you really need in an online system is the ability to (a) create a General Ledger and Trial Balance and (b) export these reports into Excel. If you can do this, you can talk to any good accountant.

I give my existing accountant a QuickBooks backup file, she restores my company using this file, and I don't touch the books while she's working with the file. I like this relationship. I'd rather run my business rather than mess with my books. Thinkpads_user, I don't wish to impune your method of modifying your books personally; I just do it differently.

Thank you for the update.  In your case then, check out the facilities of QuickBooks Online. Lots of people use it. Ask Intuit Sales if the data files are cross-functional. I am not sure about that.

The other packages above (non-QuickBooks) are not likely to be interchangeable.
