HP M401 DNE printer not printing to A4 if A5 is in the printsettings

HP M401DNE printer behaves not like normal when printing A5 onto A4.

We have some .xlsx documents which normal (in our factory) print to a A5 MECTEC printer. Sometimes our salespersons want a testprint and they used a HP P3005N printer for it.  They got a new M401DNE now.

Normal printer (Like HP P3005N, HP 4100, HP 4014N etc) show at the display a message that there is wrong paper size in tray 2 when asked for an A5 print. With the OK button it is still possible to print anyway onto A4 if you like. (press OK button once or twice)

The M401DNE first 'prints' an empty page. Then an error message at the display states 'unexpected paper size in Tray 2. Load A5. Press OK to continue.

Pressing OK gives again an empty page and again the same error message. over and over...

I loaded the last firmware into the printer en the last drivers for windows 7 but the problem stays the same. different excel docs, different M401 printers, different pc's, different OS's (win7 and win 8).

The problem is definitely in the used paper size. A4 functions correct. A5 gives the error.

Any ideas how to print anyway onto A4 at the M401DNE printer???

Found a solution. (not THE solution)

In the printer webpages there is under 'system' tab the 'service' menu entry. There you can switch on the 'override paper size errors' parameter.

From that point on everything will always be printed and there will never be asked for a different paper size.

Not the solution one wants necessary but it works for now for us.
