We have a Canon C5051 connected via Ethernet to my corp network. We need to be able to allow a single machine to connect via USB. The C5051 Does have (2) External USB ports, the port located next to the RJ45 is the port that we are using to a windows 8.1 Enterprise device. We need to configure the device to print.

Interestingly the USB port is not an option when choosing ports via the Advanced printer setup. When using the Canon Drivers available the INF does not make that port available. When using the setup.exe the printer is not recognized. Leading me to deduce that the usb port is not active on the 5051.

Noting that by default the port is available has anyone run into this situation? We have looked at the menu map however it would appear that the port settings only address the front print from usb?

According to the data sheet, the C5051 has a "Suppressible USB interface - For allowing or disallowing the use of USB interface". It also says you need the "The optional Access Management System Kit-B1", which in turn will require a password.

So I assume you have the Kit-B! installed, and someone has disabled the USB for security. In that case, you should be able to turn the USB port on after entering the password, from either the front panel or the printer's web interface.
