Hello!

Issue: An External sender attaches a "Worksheet.xlsx" file to an email and sends it into our system, the Internal recipient receives the attachment as "Worksheet.xlsx.txt."

NOTE: Opening the Worksheet.xlsx.txt attachment displays the following text: "This attachment was removed."

Additional Info:
1. The email passes through our spam filter just fine. The attachment is not touched.
2. The .xlsx attachments are not blocked or removed, except in this instance. It is a monthly recurring email from an external sender.
3. The attachment is modified going inbound OR outbound of our Edge server.
4. The Content Filter is Disabled.

Any ideas?? :)

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you!

Exchange doesn't remove attachments by default.

Normally we would see the attachment being removed by AV software, because xlsx files are actually zip files (you can open them in winzip for example).

However do check whether the attachment filtering agent is being used.
