One of the third party application is crashing when we do vm backup.
I noticed the event id 137 is in the windows event viewer, I belive this is something to do with
disk.enableUUID value to false what is application quiesing and file system quiesing?
Does it meant that I will not be able to protect installed application ?

If you also Take a Snapshot, with the quiesing option ticked, does the application crash also, because this is the same function, applied during a backup.

do you get the same Event Id?

What is the application?

What is the Backup software?

Well you need the VSS driver enabling or discuss the issue with application Vendor and backup vendor

May not be compatible with backup or virtualization.

Control application downtime with dependency maps

Visualize the interdependencies between application components better with Applications Manager's automated application discovery and dependency mapping feature. Resolve performance issues faster by quickly isolating problematic components.

Is your VM under high I/O or is the app latency sensitive. When you take a snapshot of a VM is does cause a pause in the VM for a sec or two which is normal not a problem but for high latency sensitive apps or for MS Cluster this sec pause can cause errors.

Are other VM getting this message when you take a snapshot?
What are you using for storage?
Have you tried to vmotion and vstorage the VM to another host and datastore to see if the error still happens?

It does happen in two separate vendor storage.
It does not happen when I set disk.Enableuuid=fales.

It's possible you will see this error, when the VM is "Stun-ed" by VMware Tools.
