Java for mobile devices

I've been working on a web site using php.  Now all of a sudden they want it to be on mobile phones and they want an app.

I need a good book on java or a web site to learn this in a hurry.

What is the diff between a site and an app?

It depend how your web site is architectured but take a look to cordova/phonegap
