The following web pages contains a lot of detailed information about how to use the hierarchy view:

http://help.eclipse.org/indigo/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.jdt.doc.user%2FgettingStarted%2Fqs-6.htm

In java, every class inherits it's characteristics from another class, and a class can have "child" classes or  subclasses.

for example... if I have a class called "Class A"
I can create a subclass of Class A called Class B, by using the extends keyword.

public class A {
   private string Name;
   public string getName{
       return Name;
   }
}

public class B extends A{
}

The hierarchy view will show that B is a subclass of A... or that A is a parent class of B.

This is like a genealogy of a class and understanding what methods the class inherits by looking at it's "Parent" class, and / or it's "child" classes.

The hierarchy view helps give a quick overview about the inheritance of a given class.

Every class can ultimately trace it's "roots" back to a single class, the "Object" class.

When i click them some of them are not opening also. How to enable and open them.

What classes are you not able to open?   can you post an example?
