Attaching and/or Importing ACT! 2012 PAD File

How can I take an ACT! 2012 Pro PAD data file (file.pad) from one computer and import/attach it to an installation of ACT! 2012 Pro on another computer?

This is a local database.
I cannot do a regular Export or a Backup from ACT! 2012 Pro on the first computer because it is not working, but I have the hard drive.

First, you can forget the PAD file ... that's just a pointer to the actual database.

It appears to have worked, it backed up and updated the database, but now ACT 2012 hangs at Logon Completed.

First check that you have the latest build of Act! 2012:

* You might need Service Pack 1, then the Hotfix - depending on the version you have

Download the latest version of ACTDIAG from:
http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27607

Attempt Repair as per:
http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26854

If that still fails, whatever damaged the old PC might have damaged it.
Do you have a backup?

Make sure you set up an automated backup on new server as per:
