The simplest is to treat it as an e-mail.  Most phone services will accept <number>@verizon.net.

Sending mail from Access can be done with BLAT, vbSendMail, CDO, or Outlook, or a 3rd party mail control.

The other method would be to POST a message to a web service.

Jim,

The text message is to inform customers of the status of their work so the I only have the phone numbers, not the phone service vendor.  So the email solution is not viable.  Can you give me any information on  a web service to POST a message to?

<<So the email solution is not viable.>>

Well you could send the text to each carrier.

There are services out there such as twilio:  www.twilio.com

which will provide a web API for your app to call and then send/receive SMS messages.
