VS10 VB.Net Checking elements value from MasterPage

I want to setup a public sub in my masterpage to do certain functions that are used on many of my subpages...  In order for this to work I need to be able to have the sub pull the status of optionbuttons outside of the masterpage.  Is there a way to do this other than passing Session.Contents variables?

If you use strong-typed master pages, then you can pass arguments from the content page to the method on the master page.
