how to get embedded  youtube video to autostart on iphone

I have embedded a youtube video on a web page and have finally figured out how to get it to autostart and hide the controls.  Works fine on regular computers and browsers.   However, I cannot get it to do it on an iphone.  The iphone requires one to push the start arrow and then it opens in a separate window that you have to press 'done' to go back to the web page.  Is there a way to get it to autostart and display embedded as intended?

As far as I am aware iOS Safari does not support the autoplay flag in the code used for the iframe  for embedded video clips.

This article explains how to put in javascript that allows you to have alternate embed code for iOS devices.  It won't solve your problem directly but it does allow you to have alternate code for iOS devices

The only way I've seen to enable autoplay is to call the UIWebView if you had an iOS app wrapper for your website but I don't think you can do it just with Safari on iOS.
