Replacing a Dead Blackberry Enterprise Server with no Backup

Hi Everyone,

We have an issue where a Blackberry Enterprise Server 5.1 (BES) has died (raid controller error) with no ability to recover and there is no working backup either.

I have read that if I build a new server and install 5.1 BES again on it, there may be no way to move the existing BB devices onto it without wiping them completely back to default and reactivating them.

I do not care about having to reactivate them but I would need to backup all the users device info, apps, settings, pictures/documents etc. before we wiped them which is a huge task and could take an hour per each BB device.

Is there any other possible way of doing this without having to do a complete backup/wipe/restore/reactivate?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

You can kind of reactivate them, but I find it doesn't work too well and you end up wiping them anyway, so you may as well go straight for a wipe.
BES 5.0.1 was quite old anyway, so you should build straight to 5.0.4.

I don't think the backup that occurs during an OS update is going to work for you, because that will also bring back the now orphaned Enterprise Activation, so you are looking at a more granular backup.
