Hi all ,

I have issue in my production environment "URGENT".

I have one v-center with all the rolls installed on him include SQL. yesterday I restarted the server and when I logged in I figured that the v-centere is not starting I was trying to restart it menially and got and error: "the local vmware started and stop etc...." I checked the logs and found almost nothing.

 What I checked until now:
1. connecting to the database = fine
2. ports 902,80,443 is not use by any other application= fine

I have attached the log for you.

Please let me know if there is any solution.

There are two errors that i see in the log.

1. Found dangling SSL error: [0] error:00000001:lib(0):func(0):reason(1)
2. Failed to add LDAP entry CN=DEA72BC0-355D-4055-8D82-1BE1017EA08A,OU=ComponentSpecs,OU=Health,dc=virtualcenter,dc=vmware,dc=int: 0x68 (The object already exists.)

It starts with this one regarding the SSL which is explained in this KB
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2053804

There's another one regarding the LDAP server
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2044680

So first check the secong one which is a smaller resolution and see if it gets resolved. If not, then follow the first one too.

Can you try starting the service with a different user?
Right Click on vCenter Service. Select Logon Tab and try using your Domain user and see if the service runs.

Have you tried starting the vCenter Service, at the command prompt. so you can see it fail?

Did you do the VPX_ACCESS part too?
LAst resort would be to uninstall and re-install the vCenter. As all the things are stored in vCenter DB it will not cause any data loss.
IS this a production vCenter? Have you raised a SR with VMware?
If its ok to re-install, you could try that.

No I didn't open any SR with vmware. I'm going to back up my database server first as this server is a production server and reinstall the vcenter.

will let you know how it goes.
