http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Streaming_Protocol  requires a client i.e. windows media player, videolan,  RTSP is an industry standard

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Messaging_Protocol is a semi-proprietary protocol originally by Macromedia (now owned by Adobe) that usually encapsulates the data in http/https frames using port 80/443 to get through firewalls.  An incomplete version of the operation has been released to the public domain. Usually used by the flash player.
