We recently replaced our Windows 2003 server with a Windows 2012 server. I have tried installing the printer drivers for the HP P1505N printer but cannot get this printer to work. I cannot find compatibility information on the HP web site or any assistance to get this printer to work.

There is a P1505N driver for Windows 8.1, so it may be possible to get it installed on Server 2012.

Go to Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Existing Connection and Next. There should be a Windows Update button beside Have Disk.

Click on Windows Update and allow to complete. Do not add the printer here. Close out, then connect the printer and see if it finds the driver.

We have tried the Windows 8.1 drivers. We have also tried the update driver function as well as the generic printer driver

Sometimes you need to remove the driver before attempting a re-install. Go to Devices and Printers, remove the printer if it is there, click once on any other printer to reveal a sub-menu, go to Printer Server Properties, Drivers Tab and remove the 1505 driver if it is there.

Once done, cancel out and consider restarting the Server at this point.

Then see if the printer can be installed.
