Users have Quickbooks 2008.
New server installation of Windows 2012.
Upgradaing soon to new version of Quickbooks but in the interim I need QB 2008 running.
Installed the QB database manager on Windows 2012 but cannot connect to the company files from the workstations.
Added the folder in the manager.  Sees that files.

1) if there is a work around I would like to know what to do
2) if not will the new version of the database manager work with the older version of quickbooks?

To the first question, the old version of database manager will not work on Server 2012. You must upgrade QuickBooks.

To the second question: Possibly. I have seen Server Manager one level ahead work with QuickBooks one level behind. Six levels?  Server Manager 2014 with QB V2008. That is doubtful. You can try it and see if it works.

If not, then you need to mount QuickBooks on a separate computer and connect up with Hosted Mode. This is not a good workaround.

Really what you should do is begin the QB migration to V2014.
