Hello,

We are having an issue with some of our emails. For some users we are unable to open the .nsf file. There seems to be an issue with the inbox folder because I am able to open the file
in designer and can browse through all the object minus the inbox.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

It can happen that there are multiple Inbox folders. Open the database in the Designer, remove the Inbox folders, then do a Replace design. Oh, and make a backup before doing any modifications.

Multiple users, you say? Do you use a modified mail template by any chance?

I did not define the template so I can't confirm nor deny if the template was modified. However, I followed your suggestion and when I delete the $inbox field I am able to open the file yet when I refreshed the template design the $inbox field was placed back in and I can no longer access the file.

You might find an Inbox under both Views and Folders. You need to remove them both. I assume it's not under Fields...

I only see inbox under folder. The ones you see in the picture are the ones i deleted. When I delete them I am able to open the file but once I rebuild it using our default mail template I get the Formula error message.

So maybe the default mail template is corrupt, or it contains two Inbox folders. Inspecting it won't do any harm.

Maybe you need to get the original template from the distribution media.

Very helpful tip, I created a template from a working mail file and reassigned it to the broken file and VOILA! I am now able to open the file and navigate all the folders with no problems.

Do you know where the templates are stored? I agree with you, I think the default template has issues and I would like to recover it before my back up retention deletes my good copy.

It's probably called mail8.ntf. You can easily find it using the Admin client, Files, and select to display Templates only.
