You have several options to display progress when there is asynchronous postback:

- Asp.net Ajax UpdateProgess: http://www.dotnetcurry.com/showarticle.aspx?ID=227

- ModalPopUpExtender from AjaxControlToolKit ( I have used this in several projects): http://mattberseth.com/blog/2007/07/modalpopup_as_an_ajax_progress.html

- Use jquery dialog - a bit more complex to implement.

using http://www.dotnetcurry.com/showarticle.aspx?ID=227

Method 1: Using PageRequestManager to display progress in an ASP.NET AJAX application

It does not work even I use exact same codes. Once the button is clicked, only the processing icon show a little. That's.

You mean no image? Did you add the Sleep because if the processing is fast, the progress won't stay for long and in some cases won't even show up.
