As with most  Android phones, just press the home key during the call, and it will drop you to your home screen (while the active call drops to the notification area), from there navigate to the Calendar app.

If you move away from an active call, and browse and start other apps, you can get it back by sliding your finger from the top of the screen down. Depending on your Android version, the call should be quite easy to see (usually still the recognisable call icon, with options behind it like Mute Pause or Hangup, while the call icon itself will bring the full call screen you began with when you answered the call).
The only exception might be your Camera app, which means if you still can't slide down the notification area, press Home again first, and on the home screen, then slide)
