2012 server windows update issue
Hello experts,
I'm facing issue with windows updates.
Its a vm on hyperV cluster. Every time when I click on windows update it stats searching for updates and stuck on same state. Tried to restart the update service and found its also hung.
Server is having 8gb memory 4cpu.
Any idea on this issue?

This is a New VM just created using ISO. and ISO downloaded from MS site.
Firewall is in disabled state.
reset the windows directory (software distribution folder recreated)
Still no luck.

getting error Code 8024402F every time...

Do you have any proxy running?
If you had the .net 4 or update (KB982670) installed, try uninstalling it rebooting and rerunning the updates.

format the c; and install OS again. then update started.
I had the same error .
I tried everything from the proposed sollutions but no luck.
At the end i noticed that the server har problems with resolving some webpages. I simply add the ISP DNS server on the NIC and testet the windows updater. It started to work without problems :D.

Suggestion 1: Temporarily disable firewall and antivirus program to test the issue.
Suggestion 2: Disable Windows Update service, rename the folder %windir%\SoftwareDistribut
Suggestion 3: Reset Windows Update components to check the result. For the detailed steps, please refer to the following Microsoft KB article:
