I have a table in SQL 2008 R2 called Inspection.
a column in that table called date formated as date with allow nulls

Every time I import this into excel the column comes over as text instead of date.  I have to select the column and select "Text to columns" so this data will show up as date.

How can I fix this??

The column has to formatted as DateTime, not DateTime2. Excel doesn't recognize dates in the DateTime2 format.
