Vmware v5.0 and v5.1 upgrade to 5.5

I have 3x standalone hosts running locally attached storage.

I recall having issues when upgrading one of my hosts v5 to v5.1 when powering up the VM's and ended up losing network settings (cant remember the 2x options is had when i powered up the VMs now).

I see 5.5 is available.

I also see there are patches.

Should i just apply 5.5 and leave the ptches off?

In the portal i see patch http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2063795 - which is this one?

The HP dl380 g7s with 64g each seem to be on the HCL.
Esxi installed on SD cards.

Whats wrong with using iso on CD?
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
You can use, an in-place upgrade from the CDROM ISO, if you want to, it's just faster upgrade method doing offline upgrade.

The current version of vCenter Server is  5.5.0b, which you should implement and upgrade to, if going to ESXi 5.5, and then apply ESXi 5.5.0 Driver Rollup 1, if applicable to you, but you cannot use the later for an upgrade.

I wrote an article just for you....

(you should not get this message!)

HOW TO: Select the right answer to "I Moved It" or "I Copied It" in VMware vSphere (ESXi)
CHI-LTDAuthor Commented:
ah yes, you remember!
CHI-LTDAuthor Commented:
If it does its moved it..
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
(I remember all Questions!)

That's correct, because Copy, changes the VMX, and Mac Address (e.g. Copy = Clone!).

Move stays the same!
