Unable to push Group Policy for enabling Proxy from server 2008r2 to win7 ie10/11

Hi,

I am trying to push a GP to enable the proxy on IE 10 / 11 (Win7) from a Server 2008 r2.

I've downloaded and added the correct admx files.

Also pushing a policy to disable connection settings tab in internet settings and that works.

might be related to another thread, I am unable to install ie10 or 11 on the server http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/Windows_Server_2008/Q_28375891.html

any reasons or known incompatibility?

You cannot set proxy server for IE 10 \ 11 from windows 2008 R2 \ Win7 GPMC management console

In order to work with that you must install GPMC console on win8 \ 8.1 \ 2012 \2012 R2 machine and from there you will find user configuration\Preferences item for all IE versions to set proxy server
(IE 5,6 ,7,8,9 and 10)
IE 10 preferences will take care of IE 11 as well

If you try to edit old IE maintenance policies with win8, you will not be able to edit those settings
Because IE maintenance is removed from win8 \ 2012 GPO and IE 10 and 11 doesn't understand IE maintenance

However IE 7, 8 and 9 can understand GP preferences from win 8 \ 2012 GPMC

You can remove \ unlink any old policies for IE 8 and 9 that was configured with 2008 R2 GPMC with IE maintenance and build new polices with win 8 machine that will take care of all IE versions with GP preferences items

Also you will find all old and new admin templates related to IE on win 8 machine GPO
