MS Outlook and MS Outlook Web Access not showing items in sent folder

The e-mail items in the sent folder of a use are missing. The folder show up in Outlook and Outlook Web Access but it empty. If you send a new message it also disappears.

Getmailboxstatistics is reporting that they are 7543 items in the sent folder/

Exchange server is 2010 and Outlook is 2010

The problem turned out to be a Filter.Turned off= Sent Items appear.

The exchange server needed a restart.

The issue was at the exchange server level not MS Outlook.
