Something like this?

<?

$data = "The site http://humblebundle.com is awesome, as is http://bitcoin.org !";

print preg_replace("#https?://\S*#","<a href='$0'>$0</a>",$data);

Open in new window

Result:
The site <a href='http://humblebundle.com'>http://humblebundle.com</a> is awesome, as is <a href='http://bitcoin.org'>http://bitcoin.org</a> !
