social media web design - call to action for additional content

So, we are trying to add a mechanism on my web page that allows us to require someone to like us on Facebook or follow us on twitter, then they gain access to content, for example a link to a different web page.  We are having an awful time trying to find the right information on this.  What is that procedure called, or are there instructions somewhere?  We're building in wordpress.

I don't know the actual term for it (or if there is an actual term).  I have seen it referred to as "pay with a _____________" (like, tweet, whatever) and Googling on those terms will produce some results for you.
