My company is moving towards sap, what advices you can give me before we do this step?

We are developing automotive system applications(financial,rental, service/garage, inventory...)using power builder tool and sql 2008, the board is asking the IT department to give recommendations to move towards sap, what recommendation/advices you give it to me before moving to sap?

Good luck!!!!!

Seriously, SAP is a big beast and can easily get out of control if not managed correctly.

I'd say the key to a successful implementation is to employ the right consultants that definitely know the system inside out, and if possible phase it in over as long a period as you can.

Than being said, it is a very good and can be a very powerful system, but again has to be done right!

Its hard to, to be honest, as SAP is so big (or can be anyway) that no two implementations are the same, and every  installation has different needs/issues

Maybe if you can tell me more about what you are planning to do and what SAP modules you are looking at using, and some about the makeup of the business I might be able to give more info.

Our company will install it for automotive dealership business, and will take make partnership with sap, so they will sell it for clients in the region.
