IE11 remove "x" close from text box

I have to remove "x" close button beside textbox, which is readonly by CSS and JQuery.

-ms-clear {
    display: none;

is not working because my application is compatible with IE9 therefore I had written meta tag in masterpage as below:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE9;">

Please provide proper solution.

Thanks in advance.

If it's compatible with IE9 why is it not with IE11
Other than that I think you are out of luck.

Thank you Cathal for response.

Our most of the user uses IE11 and our application is support IE9, therefore we make application to compatible with IE9 and that is not working.

Suggest any other solution.
I'm afraid it's not possible then as MS never bothered to add the option to remove it in compatibility mode (stupid)
