internet plan compare
hi,
did any one know about hovernetworks? this is a company in New York, now they are providing a plan call Time Warner Cable 35M upload and 5M download, and said it can be much better than our current T1 1.5M, and they also can prove VOIP phone system to our company. we are using T1 1.5M VPN connect to our Head office( also using T1 1.5M), if we want to change to VOIP, is the current 1.5M enough?
did any one use this company? any experience?
thanks

I don't think this is the right way round, with 5 IP addresses, price only 200-300, that's why I am wonder will it be comparable with T1 1.5.
It will be faster than T1 1.5
Assuming it is actually 35M download and 5M upload then it will be about 23x faster to download and about 3x faster to upload.
But remember DSL is not guaranteed speed (like you would have with T1) so you need to check the contention ratio.
It's all very good saying 35/5 but not if there are a 100 people sharing the line and everybody is using it.
Is broadband really that bad in the US? I have 120/10 uncongested on fibre cable for a fraction of the price you are quoted.

I can't check the contention ratio because that's the company provider secret. and that's the important thing i am concerning. if more people sharing the line, then I will get into trouble.

1.5 is fast enough for VOIP, but the quality would be dependant on other network traffic.
But if they are offering a better deal then go for it. If the price is increasing substantially then you don't need it.
