Hi,

If you forget the admin user password for vCenter Operations Manager, a script is available for you to re-set that password.

For vCenter Operations 5.0, download the attached script and copy to the vApp using a tool such as SCP.

For vCenter Operations 5.0.1 and subsequent versions, the script is available in the vApp.

To reset the admin password:

Note:  If you are on a version later than 5.0, go to Step 3.

1. If you are on the 5.0 version, download and unzip the file resetadminpwd.zip to obtain
    the script file resetadminpwd.sh.
2. Save resetadminpwd.sh on the UI virtual machine in the /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/conf/install folder.
3. Change directory to /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/conf/install.
4. Make the resetadminpwd.sh script executable using this command:
    chmod 755 resetadminpwd.sh

5. As root, run the script resetadminpwd.sh on the UI virtual machine:

./resetadminpwd.sh new-password

Note: The $ character should not be used in new-password. If you want to use $, reset the admin password using the script to a temporary password without a $ and then reset the admin password to the required password in the vCenter Operations admin console.

The file is attached to this post.

Hope this helps.

Regards
