Hi;

Can anyone help with getting some ports opened on a Smart RG modem.

They worked on a previous modem of the same model.

I need port 8060 opened.

Here is a manual covering several models; but, I see no facility for port forwarding: http://www.lmi.net/wp-content/uploads/SmartRG350N.pdf

The scuttlebut from several other hits is that you want a traditional router (Netgear, Belkin, DLink, etc.) and to then put the RG into bridge mode.  In that mode, you have to setup the PPPOE login in the router and the RG just acts as a simple modem.

Hi;

It turns out that I was doing it the correct way all along. The issue was that I thought the company which configured the software and ports originally had opened firewall etc. It turned out that they did not keep records and were actually using a different set of ports but did not inform me of this.

SO essentially when I checked the firewall on the server that port they were using was blocked so I opened it.

The answer was not provided by the forum partially because the problem was not what it appeared to be.
