Hello,

Can you recommend a reporting tool for SharePoint 2013 usage?  I have a SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Server used for an internal intranet.

I have read the MS has cut back on usage reporting for SharePoint 2013.  They say that it took too much resources to log and record usage.

Thanks,

Paul

As always, it depends....

Reporting services are resource intensive, this is true. But it depends on your reports.
Reporting services have three stages, the query against the database, the rendering of the report and possibly the client, if drilldown function are used.

As far as your report is fast enough, you can use it with sharepoint.

Nevertheless MS moved more and more to Excel Services and power pivot, which may produce faster results for complex situations. But also Excel services and Power Pivot need some resources and as well Enterprise SQL Server license

At the end, any tool can be used, which can be show in Sharepoint, either just as a web site or like with Excel service or reporting servies with MS technologie. If ou use a differnt tool from another vondor, the question is only, if you ae able to show the results in Sharepoint.

From the performance perspective, the load is produced mostly by the report rendering, Sharepoint just shows the result within a webpart, either its own or a vendor webpart.

Hi there,

CardioLog Analytics is a reporting solution designed specifically for all versions of SharePoint portals and Social Platforms, such as Yammer, Sitrion and more. It’s available as an On-Prem or SaaS deployment. It does not use basic SharePoint logs and has its own JavaScript tracking agent. The solution provides quick and easy integrations to active directories and user profiles, report filtering by SharePoint metadata, real-time reporting, campaigns, and more. By integrating to SharePoint’s unique architecture, it seamlessly identifies SharePoint’s object model and provides enhanced usage reports.
