Using Mobile Joomla plugin but not working right

Hello!

So I have downloaded Mobile Joomla plug/component, it is working like a charm, but I am having one small issue. I have an opened a question on their support forums but have not received a response. So I am in hopes someone here will be able to assist.

I have two links at the footer for both my mobile and desktop version (it is the same menu for both): Desktop   |   Mobile, on the phone the two links work great. The mobile visitor clicks on desktop and gets the desktop version of the website. If the mobile visitor wants to return back to the mobile version they click on Mobile and they go back to the mobile version.

However, the desktop user does not experience this. When the desktop visitor clicks on the Mobile link they are directed to the mobile site, but when this same user clicks on the desktop link it does not direct them back to the desktop version, it keeps them on the mobile site. For whatever reason once the desktop visitor is on the mobile version the link for the desktop link changes...it is no longer:
index.php/?device=desktop,

but instead has the same link as the mobile:
index.php/?device=xhtml

. The desktop user has to clear their cache in order to get the desktop version back.

The two links (Desktop and Mobile) are the same menu for both templates assigned to module position: website-version. they are not two separate menus. Desktop is set as an external link: index.php/?device=desktop, and the Mobile is: = index.php/?device=xhtml.

You can see the issue here: www.coconino.edu

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Morgan

if this is a third party plugin then there's a bug or its not configured correctly.
the link when in Mobile state is incorrect :

Desktop links:
<li class="item-541 first"><a class="first" href="/?device=desktop"  ><span>Desktop</span></a></li><li class="item-520 last"><a href="/?device=xhtml"  ><span>Mobile</span></a></li></ul>

Mobile links:
<li class="item-541"><a class="first" href="/?device=xhtml" >Desktop</a></li><li class="item-520"><a href="/?device=xhtml" >Mobile</a></li></ul>

you can see the link to the desktop when in mobile mode is the same as the link to the mobile,  can you cheek the settings if this is a plugin?
what is the name of the plugin?

Hello chilternPC,

It is a third party plugin: Mobile Joomla. I believe it is a bug. I finally got a response from their help support (forum) but so far to no avail. If you wnat to see where I am with it so far here is the link: http://www.mobilejoomla.com/forum/16-device-detection/17116-link-back-to-desktop-not-working-correctly.html

Thanks,

well its not correct as when in mobile the desktop link have a link to the mobile layout.
you should cut and paste the above code and state that the desktop link is incorrect when in Mobile

If you use Joomla 3.x with a responsive template you would not need this plugin as the template adapts to the mobile automatically.

Hello chilternPC,

Only reason I used the third party is time constraints. I didn't have enough time to create a responsive design :( I only had 2 months to create the site listed above, by myself with over 300 pages of content to transfer over :(

Thanks for the feedback!
