Outlook 2007 not Syncing with Exchange

I have a client site that utilizes Office 365 for their email services.  A couple of users are experiencing an issue with their Outlook 2007 not syncing properly with the Exchange server.  It is not allowing access to send/receive email and their folders are not updating and staying current.  What would cause Outlook not to sync with Exchange and how would you resolve the issue?

Make sure they have all the needed updates installed; rerun the Office 365 desktop setup on the affected machines and recreate the Outlook profile.

Just to exclude any possible issue with the actual mailboxes, try them on another machine, with another version of Outlook or via the webmail.
