I use both a Dell Desktop and a recently-acquired Lenovo Thinkpad P400. Every week, I download a couple of zipped files which are each about 153 KB.<br />

The Del, running Windows XP Pro,l unzips the contents quickly and easily. The Lenovo, running Windows 8.1, unzips the files <u>very</u> slowly.<br />
<br />
Can anyone explain why this happens AND, more importantly, how to rectify the situation? I would gladly change to another unzip program IF it is indeed faster. I would like a faster unzip utility, as I'll be doing this regularly on the road away from home and won't have the desktop with me, of course.<br />

Why is 7-Zip so slow in Windows 8.1?

Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations.
