Here is a side by side comparison by CNET, but you may know CNET might not be the best place for information on Apple products, and this article does not have a date I can see...

In disbelief, I checked and found this...

So you might use the first article for what you might be concerned about, then look up the specifics about the Apple product separately.  The CNET article seems to be comparing apples to oranges in a way.  At first glance, it seemed a lot of the information is off regarding Apple Airport in the CNET article.

Does this help?  Any one here have Extreme to verify?
