Scanning with Workcentre 7655
I have a client who purchased a used Xerox Workcentre 7655. I had no problem setting up the network printing capabilities on all of thier Windows 7 and 8 systems, but have no clue as to how to get the scanning to desktop features to work. This is a small peer to peer network. The owner has installed Fiery Command WorkStation.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Thanks Joe,
I have viewed the manual, but it seems only to pertain to a server environment.
I am looking for a way to make it work in a peer-to-peer environment.

Joe,
Thank you,
Forgive my ignorance please. How would I set up the FTP server on the workstation?

Assuming you use a W7 workstation for it, if you Google "ftp server windows 7" you'll learn all that you need to know...and one of the hits will be for FileZilla. I've used the FileZilla Client for many years:
https://filezilla-project.org/
It is both free and excellent! I've deployed the FileZilla Server only in a sandbox (W7/64-bit), where it has worked well, but I don't have production-level feedback for you. However, I think it's worth a spin, and it is open source software distributed free of charge under the GNU GPL. According to the website, the Server runs on Vista, W7, W8, and W8.1, all of them on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Here's the Server download link:

The System Administrator's Guide posted by Joe Winograd has a section on "Configure a Scan Filing Repository using SMB", on page 150. That explains how to set up the folder on a PC or Server, and how to set up the WorkCentre to scan to that folder.
Give that a try and see how you go.

If the problem is resolved, please let us know what fixed it and close the question; if it isn't resolved, please let us know where things stand and how we may be of further assistance. Thanks much, Joe

The question is, "...how to get the scanning to desktop features to work. This is a small peer to peer network."
There are at least two ways to do this — FTP and SMB. These three posts explain how to do it via FTP:

All four posts deserve to be marked as Solutions, imo. Regards, Joe
