I just got several Cisco aironet 1532Is ( Cisco IOS Software, C1530 Software (ap1g3-K9W8-M), Version 15.2(4)JB, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) )that I have to configure for our campus. I hooked up the console cable like I normally would with any Cisco device, logged on with the default username/password (Cisco/Cisco), went into privileged EXEC mode (enable), then I entered "conf t" like I usually would to go to global config mode and it told me that that command is invalid. I used the help feature to display all available commands and configure terminal isn't even available. Please advise.

thanks

These APs are lightweight Mesh access points.  You can't configure them via the CLI (apart from basic IP and WLC address).

To use them as standalone APs you need to downgrade the code to Autonomous IOS.  You'll need to download the code from Cisco.

when you say download the code from Cisco, can you specify where on Cisco?
Is it where you go to view your Smartnet or someplace else?

Here's the download link (Software Center)...

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284620606&flowid=48546&softwareid=284180979&release=15.2.4-JB4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest

You'll need a service contract for the APs to download the code.
